President's Message - February 2008

This is the first newsletter of my two year term as President of the Halifax Esso Annuitant Club. I am really looking forward to working with the Board and the membership. We are privileged to be able to participate in a club such as the Imperial Oil Annuitant's Club. Most companies do not provide the support that Imperial Oil gives to organizations like ours. We are envied by retirees of other companies.

There is no doubt that the next two years will be a challenge as the cost of socials increase and the total membership decreases. However we have very capable people on the Board who will collectively be working on ways to ensure the membership is served well to ensure the long term survival of the club.

The first social event of the year will be the lobster dinner at Brightwood Golf and Country Club on June 19. We will be honored with Dartmouth's Refinery Manager, Janet Matsushita as our tentative guest speaker.
